Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine (ST4+) - 80:20 Frailty

The fellowship involves 80% clinical work in the adult emergency department and 20% dedicated to developing a specialist interest of the candidate's choice. The posts are open as OOPT/E for EM HSTs and as stand-alone posts for non-trainees, with options for 100% EM or for SAS and Specialty Doctors.

Applicants should hold a relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g., MRCEM, MRCP, MRCS, FRCA or equivalent) and be ST4+ or equivalent, with at least 3 years in approved SHO posts (Post Foundation Medicine) or equivalent, including at least 1 year in Emergency Medicine.
The role combines service provision, including out-of-hours work, with paid time to develop a specialist interest, which may include education, global health, expedition medicine, leadership, advanced airway management, research, ultrasound, resuscitation, toxicology, or paediatrics. Candidates can propose other interests for consideration. Open to trainees and non-trainees; trainees with UK National Training Numbers in Emergency Medicine are eligible for OOPT or OOPE.

Clinical
Manage the reception, diagnosis, and emergency treatment of adult ED patients, with supervision from senior staff to develop autonomous management skills, excluding paediatric cases. Collaborate with ICU and specialist units for patient care.
Managerial
Report to the Clinical Director, with responsibilities including clinical governance, audit, and participation in interdisciplinary meetings.
On-Call Commitment
Full shift system covering early, mid, late, and night shifts, with pay compliant with regulations.
