Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Paediatric Senior Clinical Fellow on the Paediatric Critical Care Unit, Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham. The successful applicant will work alongside existing paediatric trainees on the Mid-Trent training scheme, with the option of additional experience with the CoMET regional transport team, based at Castle Donnington.
Starting date will be Feb/March 2026 or Aug/Sept 2026
Main duties
The Paediatric Critical Care Unit accommodates 18 children, with 14 beds for level 2 and 3 patients, admitting approximately 500-600 patients annually. The unit serves as a regional specialist for Nephrology, Major trauma, Burns, Neurosurgery, Oncology, and Spinal surgery, supporting various paediatric specialties.
The CoMET transport service, shared with Leicester, provides advice, stabilization, and transfer for children from regional hospitals, including helicopter transfers with The Children's Air Ambulance.
You will contribute to a full shift system with out-of-hours cover, working up to 48 hours per week, with optional CoMET experience.
About us
Applicants should have at least 2 years of approved SHO posts in paediatrics or related fields, possibly awaiting a training post or with a CCST in PICU. MRCPCH or equivalent is preferred.
Job responsibilities
Gain experience in respiratory intensive care, including Electrical Impedance Tomography on critically ill PICU patients.
