Job summary

Supercritical seeks a Lead Climate Scientist (Sales and Advisory) to drive CDR portfolios and provide expert advisory to major buyers. You will communicate rigorous science, shape engagements end to end, and own client deliverables while collaborating with our Director of Climate Science and Policy.

You will lead advisory work, develop policy insights, and contribute to building a new practice with mentorship for junior staff, while engaging in paid advisory engagements for high-profile clients.

Qualifications

• MSc or higher in chemical engineering, environmental science or related field; or BEng/BSc with relevant experience.
• Expertise in carbon dioxide removal (CDR) across multiple engineered pathways.
• Experience delivering client-facing consulting or advisory projects with external clients.
• Ambition to grow into leading large advisory engagements.
• Working knowledge of policy/standards relevant to corporate buyers (e.g., SBTi, GHG Protocol, ETS).
• Previous climate/sustainability sector experience; client-facing exposure.
• Excellent written communication and ability to translate complex science clearly.
• Strong Excel proficiency and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead defined-scope client engagements end to end, shaping scope and delivering to timeline and budget.
• Collaborate with Director on large advisory engagements and build leadership in workstreams.
• Produce written deliverables: assessment reports, strategy documents, portfolio/price models, board-ready summaries.
• Support sales/marketing by contributing to climate thought leadership.
• Cultivate relationships with CDR buyers and provide market insights.
• Direct work of external associates and junior colleagues on engagements.
