Job Title: Senior Client Technical Manager - Delegated Underwriting

Location London/Hybrid – 3 days in the office

Role Summary

The Senior Delegated Authority Technical Manager oversees the technical aspects of delegated authority agreements between the company and third-party insurers, brokers, and other partners. This includes managing the implementation, governance, and performance of delegated authority arrangements, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal standards, and supporting the development of strategic improvements within the delegated authority operation.

Role Accountabilities

Oversee the review, negotiation, and implementation of delegated authority agreements, ensuring that contracts are aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Producing Binding Authority contracts, associated Reinsurance contracts, Endorsements and any other documentation required within the DUA lifecycle.
  • Provide technical support and expert advice to internal teams on delegated authority matters, such as underwriting, compliance, and claims.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including underwriters, brokers and insurers to ensure alignment on delegated authority arrangements.
  • Act as the key point of contact for escalated issues related to delegated authority, providing leadership and resolution when required.
  • Ensure that the Placement and Delegated Authority frameworks are adhered to and updated as necessary.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to junior team members, supporting their professional development in delegated authority processes, risk management and regulatory compliance
  • Using internal and external tools to ensure documentation contains the correct clauses, conditions, taxes, etc, for that jurisdiction.
  • Support the development of training materials and workshops to ensure that internal stakeholders are educated on best practices for delegated authority arrangements
  • Assist client services executives and IBA in resolving issues relating to the markets or clients' payments.
  • As needed, provide ad hoc support to the Team Lead and other team members.
  • Any additional duties as assigned.

Role Requirements

  • Extensive working knowledge of delegated authority insurance and reinsurance agreements
  • Understanding of underwriting, claims processes and risk management.
  • Experience in London Market Binding Authority & Coverholder application processes
  • At least 5 A-C Grade GCSE (or equivalent) including English and Math’s

Skills and Abilities

  • Leadership experience with the ability to manage and collaborate with various departments, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in identifying trends, driving performance, and resolving issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to senior stakeholders and non-technical teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Adaptable and flexible in response to a fast-paced, evolving industry landscape
  • Experience in managing projects and initiatives (not essential)
