The role
The Senior Client Accountant works with the Client Accounting Manager/Assistant Manager (or equivalent) as a subject matter expert, responsible for ensuring the Client Accounting and Financial Reporting for our Client(s) is managed effectively and in a timely manner, in accordance with Client requirements.
The objectives of the role are to:
- Ensure all Client and property accounting services are delivered to a high standard and meet service levels required by the Client;
- Maintain complete and up-to-date records and financial management, including applying accounting regulations, query management, service charge management, reconciliations, capex, opex, and other Client-specific procedures;
- Collaborate with surveyors, Clients, and team members to resolve queries;
- Support contractual compliance across the team, including meeting SLAs and KPIs on behalf of BNPPRE;
- Continuously improve processes for market-leading financial management, adhering to all relevant legislation.
Responsibilities
- Mentor and role model for the Client Accounting and Financial Reporting team, providing coaching to maintain performance and technical skills;
- Develop and improve processes and procedures to ensure service standards are met;
- Ensure compliance and control requirements are satisfied through internal audit and compliance;
- Monitor and produce client accounting records, including statements, profit and loss, balance sheets, VAT and tax reporting, charges, reconciliations, and supporting information;
- Keep property and finance data current and manage the finance database;
- Undertake financial analysis and data analytics with business intelligence tools;
- Attend client meetings, understand client needs, interpret requirements, and respond appropriately;
- Advise team members on accounting record structuring and reporting goals;
- Ensure Quality Assurance reviews are completed and signed off before issuance;
- Assist in audits of financial information, procedures, and controls;
- Manage within budget, minimizing overheads;
- Manage existing client relationships and build networks internally and externally;
- Evaluate and improve standards, techniques, and procedures.
Person specification
- Highly numerate with strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills;
- Experience in an accounting team within property management or similar environment;
- Qualified or part-qualified in CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent, or qualified through experience; GCSE Maths and English;
- Experience in bookkeeping, financial reporting, operations, and controls;
- Tenacious, presentable, assertive, adaptable, self-aware, motivated, with professional manner;
- Conscientious, detailed understanding of accounting and data protection;
- Understanding of accounting techniques, including general ledger transactions (advantageous);
- Committed to customer service and meeting deadlines;
- Commercially astute, innovative, solutions-oriented;
- Organized, methodical, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with property management and accounting packages (e.g., Trace Tramps, Yardi, Qube Horizon) is a plus.
