Job summary

Senior Client Accountant– Accountancy Practice

Wilmslow | £35,000–£45,000 depending on experience and qualifications

We are looking for an experienced practice accountant to join a well-established company in Wilmslow as a Senior Client Accountant.

This is a broad, hands-on role combining accounts and tax work, management of your own client portfolio and supervision of more junior members of the accounts team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is already a Client Manager or Senior Accountant, who has started reviewing work and taking greater responsibility for clients, and is now ready for a new challenge.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage your own portfolio of clients, building strong relationships and ensuring work is delivered accurately and on time
• Prepare and review year-end accounts, tax returns and management accounts across a varied SME client base
• Provide clients with practical advice around tax planning, cash flow, profitability and business performance
• Review work and support the training and development of less experienced accountants
• Work closely with Senior Client Managers and Directors, including attending client meetings and supporting the wider portfolio
• Make effective use of Xero and other cloud accounting systems to improve client processes and efficiency

The Ideal Candidate

5+ Years’ experience of working within an Accountancy practice, with strong technical accounting skills and the confidence to build relationships with clients.

• Ideally be AAT or ACCA qualified or part-qualified or qualified by experience (QBE).
• Knowledge of TaxCalc, Xero software
• Some experience of reviewing the work of others and supporting junior colleagues would be ideal.
• Above all, we're looking for someone personable and confident who is comfortable combining hands-on accounting with increasing responsibility for clients and the wider team.
