Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of owner-managed businesses and SME clients.
• Prepare year-end statutory accounts and financial statements.
• Complete corporation tax and personal tax computations and returns.
• Prepare management accounts and provide meaningful financial insight.
• Support VAT, bookkeeping and general accounting queries for clients.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and become their primary accounting contact.
• Review work of junior team members and coach where needed.
• Identify opportunities to provide wider services to clients.
• Meet deadlines across multiple client assignments with accuracy.

Based in Harrow, this position would suit an ambitious accountant with solid practice experience who enjoys building strong client relationships and wants greater responsibility within a supportive team.

You’ll be involved in a mixture of accounts preparation, personal and corporation tax, VAT and management accounts, alongside providing commercially useful advice to clients. The role offers scope to develop towards a manager-level position for the right person.

What you'll be doing

• Managing a portfolio of owner-managed businesses and SME clients
• Preparing year-end statutory accounts and financial statements
• Completing corporation tax and personal tax computations and returns
• Preparing management accounts and providing meaningful financial insight
• Supporting clients with VAT, bookkeeping and general accounting queries
• Building trusted relationships with clients and becoming their go-to accounting contact
• Reviewing work completed by more junior members of the team
• Helping to identify additional opportunities where clients could benefit from wider services
• Assisting with more complex accounting and advisory assignments
• Supporting junior colleagues through coaching, guidance and technical development
• Managing deadlines across multiple client assignments while maintaining a high standard of accuracy

What we're looking for

You’ll ideally have several years of accountancy practice experience and be comfortable managing clients independently. We’re particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

• Strong experience within an accountancy practice environment
• Previous responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients
• Good knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax principles
• Experience preparing year-end accounts and corporation tax returns
• Confidence dealing directly with clients and explaining financial information clearly
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
• A proactive, commercially minded approach rather than simply focusing on compliance
• Experience reviewing or supporting the development of junior team members
• ACA, ACCA or AAT qualification, part-qualified status, or strong relevant experience
