Job summary

Hull City Council in Kingston upon Hull is seeking a Senior Cleaning Assistant for The Guildhall. This part-time, permanent role covers 25 hours weekly with a 6am–9am and 4pm–6pm pattern, Monday to Friday.

The post holder will organise labour, deliver induction training, manage staff absence, liaise with clients, and supervise cleaning teams while upholding health and safety standards under local policy.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing cleaning staff and operations.
• Knowledge of health and safety policies and compliant practices.
• Ability to train and induct new cleaning staff.

Responsibilities

• Organise labour, order materials and equipment within a work area according to procedures.
• Deliver Induction Training for Cleaning Assistants per safe systems of work.
• Manage and cover staff absence to meet SLA and maintain standards.
• Liaise with clients and report actions per complaints procedure.
• Manage cleaning teams to uphold standards and develop practices.
• Be first point of contact for clients regarding SLAs at sites.
• Check attendance and organise relief cover as needed.
• Supervise cleaning staff and monitor performance.
• Undertake cleaning duties in line with safe systems of work.
