Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Senior Civils Estimator to join their Natural Resources Nuclear & Networks team. This role involves leading the estimating process, preparing estimates, and ensuring accurate costings for civil engineering projects. Ideal candidates will have a degree or HNC in a related field and experience with major contractors. Remote working is available with occasional office travel.

Job description

We're looking for a Senior Civils Estimator to join our Natural Resources Nuclear & Networks team based in the North.

Location: Sites in Manchester and Warrington - remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required

Hours: 40 hours per week

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Civils Estimator, you'll be working within the Commercial team, supporting them in maximising the commercial position of Kier whilst securing opportunities in line with our contract objectives.

Your day-to-day will include:

1. Leading the estimating process within the bid or framework teams from receipt of documents to handover to the delivery teams.
2. Preparation and representation of the estimate at bid team meetings and final settlement of bid.
3. Initiate technical queries and ensure design is sufficiently developed to ensure accurate costings.
4. Technical and commercial appraisal of material and subcontract quotations, including the selection of prospective sub-contractors.
5. Use of estimating software such as RIB Candy or similar to prepare estimates.

This role of Senior Civils Estimator is ideal if you:

1. Are degree/HNC qualified in a construction or civil engineering-related subject.
2. Have experience working as an Estimator for a major civil engineering contractor.
3. Possess commercial awareness with knowledge of various contract forms such as NEC, ICE, and IChemE.
