Job Description:

Senior Civil / Structural Design Engineer

We are recruiting for a Senior Civil / Structural Design Engineer in our Building Engineering Team at the Newark office. We offer flexible, hybrid working arrangements. This role involves delivering high-quality engineering solutions for commercial and industrial projects, exceeding client expectations.

About The Design Business: RPS Design Division handles projects across sectors like residential, logistics, retail, healthcare, education, energy, and more. We focus on balancing form and function, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness, leveraging digital tools to enhance project delivery from concept through detailed design.

What you’ll be doing:

• Work closely with the team director and project lead
• Manage design and drawing production
• Collaborate and delegate tasks within the team
• Mentor junior staff; provide technical guidance
• Participate in client and project meetings
• Assist with site inspections and surveys
• Perform design tasks using expert knowledge
• Ensure high-quality technical output
• Maintain good relationships with clients and external teams
• Manage project budgets and support fee proposals
• Produce detailed technical designs and reports
• Validate models and calculations, adhere to BIM protocols

Who we’re looking for:

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (preferably MSc with ICE/IStructE membership)
• Chartered or working towards Chartered status
• Minimum 4 years postgraduate experience
• Proficient in relevant software and legislation
• Strong project management and commercial awareness
• Excellent communication skills
