Senior Civil / Structural Design Engineer

We are recruiting for a Senior Civil / Structural Design Engineer to work in our Engineering Team in the London office. We offer an agile, hybrid working environment. This role provides an opportunity to deliver quality engineering solutions for various development projects, exceeding client expectations.

About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across sectors such as residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, and energy. We focus on balancing form and function, sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our delivery, enabling clients to experience designs from concept through detailed drawings, supported by decades of multidisciplinary expertise.

What you’ll be doing:

• Collaborate with the team, delegate tasks, and communicate effectively
• Mentor junior colleagues; provide technical advice and guidance
• Attend and contribute to project and client meetings
• Assist with site inspections and surveys as required
• Undertake design tasks based on expert technical knowledge
• Oversee and maintain high-quality technical design output
• Establish and maintain good relationships with external project team members and clients
• Manage cost, time, and budget implications; support in preparing fee proposals
• Produce detailed technical output using design models and expert knowledge
• Validate design models and calculations; contribute to technical specifications and reports
• Manage drawing production ensuring BIM protocols are followed
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and mentor junior team members

Who we’re looking for:

• Ideally Chartered or progressing towards CEng qualification with ICE and/or IStructE
• Broad building structures capability with 7-8+ years post-graduate experience
• Experience in building surveys, structural assessments, and tall buildings (15+ stories) is beneficial
• Proficient in relevant drawing, modelling, and design software
• Strong knowledge of legislation and standards
• Good commercial awareness and project management skills
• Committed to continuous professional development
• Excellent communication skills in Microsoft Office
