Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager to lead major HV transmission and substation civil works in the UK. The role focuses on safe, timely delivery and meeting financial targets across multi-disciplinary projects.

You will manage Site Managers and coordinate with clients and subcontractors on complex energy infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have substantial HV project delivery experience, a background in civil engineering, and a strong grasp of programme and cost

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering HV transmission and distribution, substation or major civil projects.
• Experience as Civil Project Manager, Substation Project Manager or similar senior delivery role.
• Understanding of 400kV+ infrastructure and multidisciplinary enhancement projects.
• Experience delivering within programme, budget and commercial controls.
• Strong knowledge of construction planning, safety and quality management.
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage subcontractors and make commercial decisions.

Responsibilities

• Take full accountability for safe, timely and financially controlled delivery of civil, substation and cabling projects.
• Set and maintain high standards across the project to meet contractual requirements and objectives.
• Plan, review and deliver programmes, ensuring milestones are met and requirements identified.
• Identify and resolve operational issues, escalating critical matters when required.
• Lead and manage Site Managers and Section Managers.
• Maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders, providing progress updates.
• Ensure resources, materials and workforce are in place.
• Manage commercial activities, cost control, and project margins.
• Oversee subcontractor performance and ensure safe, compliant delivery.
• Drive a positive safety culture and compliance with requirements.
• Support project teams to achieve programme, quality and commercial objectives.
