Job summary

HS2- backed project in Coventry seeks a seasoned Supervisor to lead and organise on-site teams across civil works. The role demands strong safety leadership, hands-on management of subcontractors, and the ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications.

You will coordinate materials, equipment and labour to meet milestones, maintain quality, and support engineering teams in issue resolution. Flexible working options are being considered on site.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as General Foreperson/Foreperson or Supervisor on major civil engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of earthworks, structures, highways, utilities or rail infrastructure.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary site teams and drive safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise site teams, subcontractors and operatives to deliver construction activities safely and efficiently.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor daily site operations to ensure works are completed in line with programme milestones.
• Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and risk assessments.
• Conduct site briefings, toolbox talks and daily activity reviews.
• Monitor productivity and resource allocation, identifying opportunities to improve performance and efficiency.
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials and equipment to ensure works progress without delay.
• Support engineers and project management teams in resolving technical and operational issues.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with BBV, HS2 and statutory health and safety requirements.
• Carry out regular inspections to monitor quality standards and ensure defects are identified and rectified promptly.
• Maintain accurate site records including diaries, progress reports, permits and inspection documentation.
• Liaise effectively with stakeholders, including subcontractors, engineering teams, environmental teams and client representatives.
• Proven experience as a General Foreperson, Foreperson or Supervisor within major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods relating to earthworks, structures, highways, utilities or rail infrastructure.
• Ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary site teams.
• Sound understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality management requirements.
• Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work activities.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and construction specifications.
• CSCS card and relevant site supervision qualifications.
• SSTS or SMSTS qualification
