Job summary

WSP is recruiting a Senior/Principal Civil Engineer to lead multi-disciplinary design teams across the UK water sector. You will own project delivery, mentor junior staff, and develop relationships with clients to secure value-driven outcomes.

The role focuses on highway and water infrastructure projects, with opportunities for training, mentoring, and progression within a global engineering leader.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Chartered status or significant progression towards ICE/CIWEM membership.
• Experience in leading engineering design teams comprising civil engineers and other disciplines.
• Experience delivering projects to budget and schedule.
• Mentoring or coaching junior civil engineers.
• Client-facing experience.
• Good presentation, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership for all aspects of project delivery including health & safety, technical, quality, schedule and budget.
• Manage multi-disciplinary teams.
• Shape the delivery of our services and identify opportunities to deliver from wider WSP business in the UK and overseas.
• Build relationships with Clients to ensure that services deliver outcomes and satisfaction.
• Contribute to identification and delivery of innovative approaches, new services and digital products.
• Contribute to the Future Ready and Net Zero programme.
• Act as an ambassador for best practice within the Asset Design team and client initiatives.
• Undertake bid preparation, resource and budget development.
• Line manage and support the professional development of graduate engineers and degree apprentices.
• Contribute to recruitment and growth of the civil engineering team.
• Continue development of technical, managerial and leadership skills.
