Senior Civil Engineer - Lead on Major Construction Project

Job summary

Fawkes & Reece Group in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Engineer to join a major Civil Engineering project in Plymouth, Devon. This is a permanent role working on-site with the project team to deliver plans safely and to the required quality and schedule.

The successful candidate will have Civil Engineering qualifications (HND/Degree) and experience with construction techniques, contracts, and site operations, supporting risk reviews and interface management on an active programme.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Civil Engineering construction techniques, sequencing, and best practice.
• Knowledge and understanding of working to and implementing construction contracts.
• HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or another relevant subject matter

Responsibilities

• Review specifications & drawings, as well as documents prepared by the subcontractor (ITP, RAMS).
• Ensure that inspection and test plans, risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works are being implemented and adhered to.
• Propose optimisations of constructability, producing high level construction methodologies to support procurement, interface management and early consenting requirements (logistics, noise, access etc)
• Monitor effectiveness of the H&S management System
• Develop/monitor/report against resource allocation plans in line with scope and outputs
• Assist the Package Manager to lead risk/opportunity reviews, present the Risk Register and recommend/implement changes
• Ensure production of operational milestones reflect master schedule and customer expectations
• Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes / variations, subcontractors' attendance, and records of work-related discussions with Client / Designer / Supply Chain / Project Team.
