SLR Consulting Ltd invites an experienced Civil Engineer to join our Civil & Structural Engineering team at Senior grade, ideally based in our Stock on Trent office. You will support the existing team, act as project manager/lead designer across infrastructure, power, industry and built environment sectors, and mentor other engineers within the group.

You will work within a multidisciplinary environment across Europe and beyond, delivering projects from planning through to tender and execution,

Qualifications

• Experience managing civil/structural engineering projects.
• Ability to mentor engineers and coordinate with clients.
• Knowledge of design codes and standards.

SLR has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer to join its busy Civil & Structural Engineering team at Senior grade.

The successful applicant will ideally be based in our Stock on Trent office and they would support our existing established civil & structural engineering team, and will act as project manager and or lead designer on a number of projects across the infrastructure, power, industry and built environment sectors.

SLR’s Engineering team boasts a wealth of expertise across the European region (and wider global business) within diverse sectors including water, mining, waste, power, infrastructure, and the built environment.

The team provides clients with expertise at all project stages, including:

• Planning
• Feasibility
• Outline and detailed designs
• Liaison with statutory bodies
• Overall Project and Programme Management
• Development and Preparation of Technical Specifications
• Preparation of Tender Packages and Tender Evaluation
• Commercial support throughout the lifecycle of a project

The role

If successful, you will work independently and within a team to deliver projects and assist with proposal development. You will act as a project manager, lead designer, write proposals and manage clients and the interface with clients. You will lead on projects and will be expected to mentor and coach other engineers within the team and support the sector and client leads across the business. Within SLR, as a multidisciplinary consultancy with a "one team" culture at its core, you will have the opportunity to work closely with other disciplines across the business including the Advisory, Environmental Management and Compliance, Land and Water and Environmental Specialist Services Groups. You will have the opportunity to work within an experienced team and be involved in a series of exciting challenges with one of the leading environmental and engineering consultancies in the UK. You will have the opportunity to work and travel across Europe and internationally.

About you

• Experience of working independently with teams of professional, engineering and operational staff in a project, consultancy or contracting environment
• An awareness of proposal and tender writing would be an advantage
• Experience in the use of PD Causeway Flow or other drainage design software
• Experience in the use of Civils 3D, PDS or Site 3D (desirable)
• Working knowledge of design codes and standards
• Experienced in the production of infrastructure design packages and drawings, specifically highway and/or drainage design
• Ability to analyse problems, create innovative solutions, and sound decisions in a competitive and commercial environment
• Due to the travel requirements for this position, a valid UK driving licence is essential.
