Jobbeschreibung

SLR is a global leader in sustainability solutions, helping clients tackle some of the world's most complex environmental and sustainability challenges. With over 4,000 employees across more than 125 countries, we combine the reach of a global consultancy with the collaborative culture of a close-knit team. Our "One Team" approach encourages knowledge sharing, technical excellence and genuine support for professional development.

As part of our continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Hydrologist to join our expanding team of water specialists. Working within one of the UK's largest multidisciplinary water environment teams, you'll contribute to a diverse range of projects across the Built Environment, Industry, Quarrying and Infrastructure sectors. From major residential and mixed-use developments through to nationally significant infrastructure and industrial schemes, this role offers exposure to a broad spectrum of hydrological, flood risk and water management challenges while working alongside highly respected specialists across the water environment discipline.

The Role

Working alongside our established hydrology and hydrogeology team, you will play a key role in delivering technical projects, supporting junior colleagues and developing strong client relationships.

The preferred location for this role is London, although applications are welcomed from elsewhere in the UK. We support hybrid, flexible and part-time working arrangements and actively encourage applications from those returning to the profession.

  • Leading and delivering Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), Surface Water Drainage Strategies and Water Environment chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
  • Managing small to medium-sized projects through all stages of delivery, ensuring quality, programme and financial targets are achieved.
  • Mentoring and supporting the development of junior team members.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients, regulators and project teams.
  • Liaising with regulators and stakeholders to agree technical approaches and assessment scopes.
  • Preparing proposals, fee submissions and supporting wider business development activities.
  • Contributing to the continued growth and technical excellence of the hydrology team.
  • Working collaboratively with drainage and flood risk engineers, hydrogeologists, geomorphologists and geochemists to deliver integrated environmental solutions.
Rewards & Benefits

We recognise that our people are our greatest asset and offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Comprehensive private healthcare and wellbeing support.
  • Travel and life insurance.
  • Structured career development and progression pathways.
  • Regular performance and career reviews.
  • 25 days annual leave plus flexible bank holidays.
  • Flexible, agile and hybrid working arrangements.
  • Family-friendly policies that support work-life balance.
  • Access to industry-leading specialists and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Opportunities to develop technical expertise, leadership capability and client-facing experience.
About You

We're looking for an experienced hydrologist who enjoys delivering technically robust solutions while working collaboratively with colleagues, clients and stakeholders. You will ideally have:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Hydrology, Geography, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering Flood Risk Assessments, Surface Water Drainage Strategies and water environment assessments in support of planning applications.
  • Experience managing projects, programmes and budgets.
  • Strong client liaison and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high technical standards.
  • Experience mentoring, supporting or supervising junior team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The following would be advantageous, but are not essential:

  • Experience supporting residential, commercial, industrial or infrastructure development projects within the UK.
  • A full driving licence valid in the UK, to facilitate occasional site visits and client meetings.
