Job summary

SLR Consulting Ltd is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with proven consultancy experience in S278 within a general infrastructure background to join our Transport Engineering team. The role involves detailed design, feasibility studies and scheme reports for a variety of projects, with a chance to lead project management, budgeting and costings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed design, feasibility studies and scheme reports for diverse projects.
• Take responsibility for project management, budgeting, BOQ and costings.
• Ensure designs meet specifications and agreed programmes.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations and CDM requirements.
• Assess environmental impacts of schemes and coordinate with the team.
• Manage client/stakeholder relationships and coordinate with colleagues.
• Support junior team members on projects.

SLR have a fantastic new opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer with demonstrable consultancy experience of S278 in a general infrastructure background to join our collaborative and growing Transport Engineering team.

The role

• Your key duties will involve the preparation of detailed design, feasibility studies and scheme reports on a variety of projects.
• Alongside this, you will also have the opportunity to take responsibility for project management, budgeting, producing bill of quantities, and costings.
• Provide assurance that scheme designs comply with specification and agreed programme
• Work to ensure designs comply with health and safety regulations and CDM requirements
• Alongside colleagues, ensure designs are assessed for environmental impacts
• Manage relationships with clients, stakeholders and third parties
• Coordinate with other team members associated with the design
• Support junior team members working on projects

About you

We are looking for an Engineer with consulting experience around the design and management of the Section 278/38 process, as well as:

• Sound knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and Manual for Streets
• Ability to engage and conduct effective negotiations with client, stakeholders, subcontractors and third parties
• Detailed understanding of Health & Safety legislation
• Competent in use of Civils 3D
