Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley seeks a Senior Civil Engineer - Hydraulic to work on major water and wastewater schemes, from feasibility through to construction. You will shape civil functions across the lifecycle and ensure designs are fit for purpose and compliant with standards.

You will mentor engineers, engage with clients, and collaborate with commercial, operational and construction teams to deliver efficient, safe solutions while supporting framework delivery in Wales.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Chartership (CEng) with a relevant Engineering Institution.
  • Experience delivering high quality outputs in line with design, quality and safety standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Methodical approach to problem solving.
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region.

Responsibilities

  • Providing design support and guidance for schemes and ensuring designs meet legislation and standards.
  • Collaborating with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop practical and safe solutions.
  • Engaging with the client and managing relationships to support aims as a one-team.
  • Managing interfaces and integration of civil design with other disciplines and production of documentation.
  • Acting as technical checker on project documents and undertaking technical reviews.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes, including standard designs, sustainable solutions and digital tools.
  • Undertaking site reviews to ensure buildability and integration within existing systems.
  • Supporting the development of the civil engineering team, mentoring engineers.

Working for Mott MacDonald Bentley, you will work on major water and wastewater schemes throughout all phases of the project from feasibility through to construction. We have secured a new framework with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water that will last up to eight years, this will see MMB tackle projects across the DCC region covering both clean and wastewater treatment sites, as well as below ground assets, reservoirs and nature-based solutions.

After securing our first framework with DCC at the beginning of AMP6, our presence in Wales has grown significantly, directly employing over 270 colleagues in the country across all roles, from frontline construction to design and management positions.

As a Senior Civil Engineer you'll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities - enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of water and wastewater treatment systems.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the civil functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects. From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure that all civil aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.

The role of a Senior Civil Engineer - Hydraulic includes:

  • Providing design support and guidance for schemes and ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards

  • Working closely and collaboratively with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond

  • Positively engage with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one-team approach to supporting them in achieving their aims

  • Managing the interfaces and integration of the civil design with that of other disciplines and production of documentation

  • Acting as technical checker on project documents, and undertaking technical reviews for projects across teams

  • Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools

  • Undertaking site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration within the existing systems

  • Supporting the development of the civil engineering team, coaching and mentoring engineers to develop their skill set and identifying the correct resource for the projects

What you’ll need:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field

  • Chartership (CEng) with a relevant Engineering Institution

  • Experience of successfully delivering high quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards

  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders

  • Methodical approach to problem solving

  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region
