Job summary

VolkerStevin, part of VolkerWessels UK, is seeking a Principal Design Engineer to lead engineering delivery for major civil projects. You will provide technical leadership across tendering and construction, mentor engineers, and drive safe, practical temporary and permanent works solutions.

You will collaborate with project teams, clients and consultants, review designs, develop calculations and reports, inspect sites and develop staff through coaching.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil, Structural or related Engineering.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with ICE/IStructE or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in designing temporary and/or permanent works.
• Experience managing interfaces with project teams and external consultants.
• Proven ability to lead complex engineering activities from concept to construction.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, checking and approvals of temporary and permanent works.
• Produce design calculations, technical reports and risk assessments.
• Review external consultant designs for compliance with requirements.
• Provide expert technical advice to project and operational teams.
• Attend site inspections and technical reviews.
• Coach, mentor and develop engineers across the business.
