UK Power Networks seeks a design engineer to lead civil and structural design for Heathrow. You will own projects from tender through construction and handover, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance while mentoring junior engineers.
With an MSc in Civil Engineering and hands-on experience in reinforced concrete and structural steel, you’ll use Revit, Robot and Vehicle Tracker to deliver cost-effective, standards-compliant solutions at Heathrow.
Join UK Power Networks Services and lead the design and delivery of civil and structural engineering solutions supporting one of the UK's most demanding infrastructure environments. This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex projects, influence technical standards and mentor developing engineers while working at the heart of Heathrow Airport.
Reporting to the Principal Civil Design Engineer, you'll independently produce civil and structural designs from tender through to construction and handover, ensuring compliance with safety, governance and regulatory requirements. You'll manage technical, commercial and contractual documentation, coordinate with clients, contractors and consultants, assess third-party works affecting electricity assets and support CDM Principal Designer duties when required.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you'll resolve engineering challenges, oversee CAD design packages, drive cost-effective solutions and provide technical guidance to Graduate, Trainee and Design Engineers. All designs must meet UK Power Networks Services, Heathrow Airport and relevant British Standards requirements.
You'll hold an MSc in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, with experience delivering building works projects, ideally within utilities or related infrastructure sectors. You'll have strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel design, experience approving design packages for construction and as-built stages, and be proficient in Autodesk design tools such as Revit, Robot and Vehicle Tracker.
Experience with power infrastructure, underground cable routes, drainage, access roads or industrial facilities is advantageous, as is Chartered Engineer status or progression towards ICE membership.
Alongside a salary and bonus, you'll benefit from
25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, private medical cover, an enhanced pension scheme, discounted gym membership, employee assistance support, retail discounts and a range of flexible lifestyle benefits.
