Job summary

Ferrovial is seeking a Civils Senior Design Engineer at Heathrow Airport to lead design coordination, manage design packages and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. You will drive design interfaces and mentor the team to deliver high‑quality outcomes.

You will collaborate with procurement, construction and client teams, lead value engineering, manage risks and ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery while promoting Ferrovial's standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in design coordination and design management on complex construction projects.
• Working knowledge of BIM and digital engineering principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet objectives.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Proactive in adopting innovative technologies and best practices.
• Sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and its application.
• Experience in cost-conscious environments balancing quality, programme and budget.

Responsibilities

• Manage tendering of design packages from client brief to appointment.
• Develop and maintain the Design Responsibility Matrix.
• Coordinate design team activities to deliver on time and to budget.
• Lead and develop direct reports where applicable.
• Monitor progress, manage risks and interface between design and project management.
• Define and coordinate design interfaces across disciplines.
• Lead multidisciplinary design reviews with stakeholders.
• Promote value engineering throughout design development.
• Collaborate with procurement to align with commercial parameters.
• Ensure designs meet health, safety, environmental, quality and accessibility requirements.
• Support audits and drive continuous improvement with safety and quality teams.
• Liaise with client representatives and present design proposals.
• Ensure compliance with client, industry and regulatory standards.
