Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead civil design activities for water and wastewater projects in a regulated environment. You will develop robust designs, calculations and technical documentation while coordinating with Process, Mechanical, EICA and other teams.

You will mentor junior engineers, drive safety and sustainability, and ensure buildable, cost-effective solutions. A Chartered or progressing professional with a Civil Engineering degree and UK driving licence is

Qualifications

• Strong civil engineering design experience in water or utilities sectors.
• Ability to produce calculations, reports, drawings and design documentation.
• Develop practical, safe and buildable solutions with whole-life cost in mind.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and project delivery.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers within civil discipline.
• Membership in a relevant professional body is preferred; Chartership desirable.
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering; full UK driving licence is essential.

• Mentor junior engineers, graduates and apprentices.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead civil design activities and technical work packages in line with agreed standards, budgets and programmes
• Develop civil engineering designs, calculations, layouts, specifications and technical documentation for water and wastewater projects
• Design infrastructure including reinforced concrete structures, buried structures, drainage systems, pipelines, earthworks, highways and site development works
• Produce cost-effective and buildable solutions that consider safety, sustainability, constructability, operational requirements and whole-life costs
• Review and assure civil design outputs, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory, company and industry standards
• Coordinate civil design activities with Process, Mechanical, EICA, Structural, Digital and Commissioning teams
• Identify and manage technical risks, design issues and opportunities for optimisation throughout the project lifecycle
• Build effective relationships with clients, discipline leads, project teams, suppliers and site teams
• Mentor junior engineers, graduates and apprentices, supporting technical development across the team

Job Requirements:

• Strong experience in civil engineering design within the water, wastewater, utilities or a similarly regulated engineering environment
• Experience producing and reviewing civil calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings and design documentation
• Ability to develop practical, economic and buildable solutions that consider safety, sustainability, constructability and whole-life cost
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and supporting successful project delivery
• Experience leading, checking or mentoring engineers within a civil engineering discipline
• Membership of a relevant professional institution, ideally Chartered or working towards Chartership
• Relevant Civil Engineering degree preferred, or an HND in a related discipline
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and commercially
• Full UK driving licence
