Job summary

RSE is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer for a permanent role in Inverness. You will join our multidisciplinary design team and be pivotal in all project stages from scoping to implementation, ensuring adherence to client specifications and regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in civil engineering, with strong communication skills and experience in design offices. The role includes leading project designs and overseeing compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a design office with additional experience in construction.
• Experience within the water industry beneficial but other backgrounds may be considered.
• Full UK driving licence required.

What Are We Looking For?

RSE is looking to hire a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join the division on a permanent basis at our H/O in Inverness. You will work as part of our in‑house, multidisciplinary design team and take on a key role in all aspects of projects from scoping and detailed design right through to implementation, ensuring compliance with Client Specifications and current regulatory standards.

As part of a multi‑discipline project team, some of your key duties include:

• Meeting with clients to discuss specific intervention requirements
• Developing design deliverables from concept to detailed design
• Carry out the planning and implementation of the project design
• Providing technical guidance on civil engineering matters to the wider project team
• Oversee design aspects of projects from inception to implementation.
• Ensure compliance with client specification and current regulatory standards.
• Assemble contract works information documents.
• Consider project health and safety, quality and environmental matters.
• Liaise with all key stakeholders for the projects.
• Implement project change control and programme requirements.
• Take responsibility as Design Lead on allocated projects.

What Do You Need?

• Degree/HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Knowledge of British and European design standards.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrable experience as a civil engineer in a design office with additional experience within the construction environment desirable.
• Experience within the water industry beneficial but other backgrounds may be considered.
• Full UK driving licence.
