Job summary

Digital Waffle seeks a Senior Cisco Network Engineer to join a hybrid role in Leicester. You will act as the technical escalation point for the network and infrastructure team, guiding engineers and owning complex Cisco projects across a multi-site estate.

You will bring extensive hands-on Cisco routing/switching expertise, strong LAN/WAN/Wireless experience, and lead upgrades, migrations and security improvements in a large-scale enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on Cisco networking in a large enterprise.
• Advanced Cisco routing and switching experience.
• Strong experience with LAN, WAN and Wireless networks.
• Advanced experience with BGP, OSPF and EIGRP in production.
• Knowledge of network security best practices.
• CCNA/CCNP or equivalent.
• Experience with FMC, ISE, ISE-PIC, Catalyst switching and Wireless technologies.
• Experience supporting thousands of endpoints across multiple sites.

Senior Cisco Network Engineer

Location: Leicester , UK (Hybrid Salary: Up to £60,000 + Benefits)

This is a hands-on senior engineering role where you'll become the technical escalation point for an experienced infrastructure team, providing expert guidance on complex Cisco networking challenges while helping shape the future of a business-critical network estate. Supporting an environment of over 7,000 endpoints, 1,600+ Cisco LAN devices and 220+ WAN links, you'll play a key role in maintaining, optimising and evolving a predominantly Cisco network.

Essential Experience

• This role is heavily weighted towards advanced Cisco networking within a large enterprise environment.
• We're looking for someone with extensive hands-on experience across Cisco technologies who can confidently lead from a technical standpoint.
• Advanced Cisco routing and switching experience.
• Strong commercial experience supporting enterprise LAN, WAN and Wireless networks.
• Advanced practical experience with BGP, OSPF and EIGRP in production environments.
• Strong understanding of network security best practices.
• CCNA, CCNP or equivalent commercial experience.
• Advanced experience with Cisco Firepower Management Centre (FMC).
• Advanced experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
• Advanced experience with Cisco Passive Identity Connector (ISE-PIC).
• Advanced experience with Cisco Catalyst switching.
• Advanced experience with Cisco Wireless technologies.
• Experience operating within a large-scale enterprise network supporting thousands of endpoints and multiple sites.
• The ability to act as the senior escalation point, providing technical advice, guidance and leadership to experienced engineers across the team.
