Job summary

Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking a Senior childcare worker for the Flying Start programme based in Barry. You will deliver a high-quality, nurturing experience for 0-4 year olds and their families, ensuring engaging play and development activities across our four childcare settings.

The role is 35 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks), with a pro rata salary of £26,824–£28,598. Training, DBS checks, and progression opportunities are available within a Welsh Government funded initiative.

Qualifications

• Minimum NVQ 4/ QCF5 in Children’s Care Learning and Development (CCLD).
• Advanced Practitioner with leadership and management units.
• Experience with babies/young children and their families.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality, nurturing childcare across Flying Start settings.
• Contribute to learning and development opportunities for children in your care.
• Occasionally cover across sites; participate in funded training including CCLD.

Description

Flying Start is a Welsh Government funded initiative aimed at children aged 0-4 years and their families. Our 4 internal childcare settings are an integral part of the service, delivering sessional childcare term time only. We are looking to appoint a motivated, enthusiastic Senior childcare worker to join our dedicated childcare team. You will contribute to delivering a high quality, fun, nurturing experience, providing learning and development opportunities for the children in your care. Although you will be primarily based in one setting, there is an expectation that all staff cover across all sites as needed. As a Flying Start childcare worker you will have access to a wide variety of funded training, including the opportunity to pursue CCLD in childcare. You will be an integral part of the wider Flying Start team, with lots of support available as well as excellent career progression opportunities.

About You

You will need

• Minimum NVQ 4/ QCF5 in Children’s Care Learning and Development (CCLD)
• Advanced Practitioner with the willingness to achieve the relevant leadership and management units
• Early Years and Childcare Experience of working with Babies/Young children and their families.
• Understanding of CIW requirements for Regulated Childcare
• Experience of planning, organisation and the implementation of play activities for young children
