Job summary
We are looking to appoint an experienced and passionate echocardiographer to support the service leads. The role will be 100% based in echocardiography and will involve practical scanning of both inpatients and outpatients, supporting trainee echocardiographers, and conducting quality assurance activities including audits and service evaluations across all trust sites.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will engage in all areas of echocardiography. Supporting the service lead to ensure compliance with departmental accreditation and quality assurance programs is fundamental, including activities to meet the echo quality framework.

Job description
A highly motivated echocardiographer with a passion for echocardiography is ideal for this expanding department. The post-holder will perform all aspects of transthoracic echocardiography, independently scan, and produce comprehensive reports following the British Society of Echocardiography standards and pathology guidelines.
Mentoring trainees preparing for exams and acting as a role model for high standards in echocardiography practice are key responsibilities. Each trainee will have a designated supervisor to support their training, including signing off logbooks, DOPS, and managing training schedules.
All echo slots at WHH are a minimum of 45 minutes, with 60-minute slots for unaccredited or newly accredited echocardiographers. There is a monthly 1-hour echo teaching session and weekly drop-in sessions to discuss interesting or discordant scans.
