Job summary

Vextrix is seeking a Senior CDM Principal Designer to manage CDM compliance on diverse projects in Liverpool, including residential, industrial, and rail sectors. You will lead as the go-to safety advisor, delivering Principal Designer duties with end-to-end statutory compliance and robust RAMS.

You will develop bespoke H&S policies, conduct site inspections, advise clients and designers, and manage project finances. Join a team valuing collaborative safety leadership and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Diploma or Degree in Health and Safety (or equivalent).
  • APS and IOSH memberships demonstrate recognized professional standing.
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and related Health & Safety legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead CDM compliance across multiple projects in residential, industrial and rail sectors.
  • Deliver Principal Designer duties with full statutory compliance end-to-end.
  • Produce compliant RAMS and robust site safety documentation.
  • Carry out site H&S inspections to maintain top safety standards.
  • Advise clients and designers on their CDM responsibilities with clarity and authority.
  • Chair CDM hazard meetings, maintain trackers, and coordinate with designers.

A bit about you

If you’re looking for an opportunity to work in a dynamic and passionate CDM team, where we deliver high quality CDM compliance to our clients, this role is for you. We are looking for an experienced Senior CDM Principal Designer who is able to manage CDM compliance on projects across residential, industrial and rail sectors.

We’re looking for someone with the following skills and experience to join our team:

  • Build strong client and team relationships through clear, confident communication
  • Own CDM compliance across multiple projects as the go-to safety advisor
  • Deliver Principal Designer duties, ensuring full statutory compliance end-to-end
  • Carry out thorough site H&S inspections to maintain top safety standards
  • Advise clients and designers on their CDM responsibilities with clarity and authority
  • Support a wide stakeholder group, including developers, contractors, and designers
  • Produce compliant RAMS and robust site safety documentation
  • Manage project finances through accurate fee proposals and prompt invoicing
  • Chair CDM hazard meetings, maintain trackers, and liaise closely with designers
  • Develop bespoke H&S policies, procedures, and templates (desirable)
  • Apply working knowledge of ISO 45001 to provide added strategic value (desirable)
Required Skills
  • NEBOSH Diploma, Degree in Health and Safety or Equivalent
  • Association for Project Safety (APS), IOSH
  • Understanding and application of CDM Regulations 2015
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations
Preferable but not essential skills:
  • Competence in Fire Risk Assessments
  • Building Regulations Duties
  • Understanding of or willing to learn Building Regulations Schedule 1 requirements
  • Experience in HRB projects
  • Experience in the rail sector (desirable) or willing to learn.
