Job Title: Senior Buyer

As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for supporting Category Managers in sourcing materials and services to support category strategies underpinning the procurement requirements of the business. Your role will ensure the best value for money while maintaining high standards of quality and supplier performance.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Acting as the interface between the engineering/project management function and the rest of the team, ensuring service levels are achieved, and issues/warranties are escalated promptly.
• Developing an understanding of synergies across different categories, fleets, and projects to ensure procurement efficiency.
• Managing the end-to-end procurement process for assigned categories, from RFP to supplier management.

Key requirements for the successful candidate are:

• Extensive procurement experience as a Senior Buyer within an engineering environment.
• Knowledge of railway industry rolling stock and components is essential.
• Strong legal and commercial experience.
• Proven track record of exceeding KPIs.
• Knowledge of Oracle-based systems.
• Commercially astute with a solid understanding of contracts.
• Well organized and capable of working under pressure.
