About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Category Buyer to join our team on a Full-Time, Permanent basis!

Reporting to a Category Manager, the Senior Category Buyer is responsible for strategic procurement operations within the aligned business area(s). The role involves partnering with the Category Manager to deliver category strategies, engaging with stakeholders across the business, procurement, and externally to understand supply chains, and offering optimal solutions for National Grid.

What You'll Do

• Deliver strategic sourcing events, understanding demand and ensuring best solutions.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies, managing procurement processes from market engagement to award.
• Collaborate with Contract Managers to ensure contract delivery and identify improvements.
• Share best practices and mentor procurement team members.
• Research supply markets, assess trends, opportunities, and risks.
• Manage tender events for key products and services.
• Forecast future requirements and develop regional contractual agreements.

About You

• Significant experience in strategic sourcing and category management.
• Understanding of project management principles.
• Proven negotiation skills.
• Ability to build commercial assessment models and develop contracts.

What You'll Get

A competitive salary between £46,415 – £58,760, dependent on capability, plus bonuses, pension, and flexible benefits.

This role is offered on a Full-Time, Permanent basis with hybrid/flexible working options. Base locations include Warwick, Bristol, or Castle Donnington, UK.
