Job summary

Guy Carpenter seeks a Senior Catastrophe Modelling Analyst to join the London office on a hybrid schedule. You will lead catastrophe modelling projects for clients across the Latin America & Caribbean region, with emphasis on the Caribbean, working closely with brokers and GC Analytics members.

You will organise data, run models, interpret results, and prepare client-ready outputs while developing regional knowledge and maintaining strong client relationships.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant catastrophe modelling experience.
  • Fluent English; Spanish language skills are an asset but not required.
  • Proactive mindset: desire and ability to lead internal initiatives and research projects to completion.
  • Robust data management skills: ability to manipulate, interpret, and extrapolate complex data.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills: translate complex analyses into understandable terms for brokers and clients.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail with financial aptitude.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented and strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Good computer skills using Microsoft SQL and Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Organize client data, checks data for reasonability, loads data into catastrophe models, runs the models and shares output with senior colleagues to help determine client's degree of risk.
  • Performs basic calculations with client data to assess a range of risk exposures and predict outcomes for clients in support of reinsurance transaction process.
  • Develops knowledge in region-based or peril-based areas of catastrophe risk management services through research or experience.
  • Reviews complex analyses completed by project team members involving catastrophe risk models and evaluates the resulting data sets to calculate the client's risk exposure.
  • Establish client relationships, resolves questions and challenges that may arise.
  • Prepares summaries, presentations and reports for client projects to summarize potential risks and loss results and to make recommendations.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Catastrophe Modelling Analyst to join the team at Guy Carpenter. This role will be based in our London office. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

In this role you will be an integral member of Guy Carpenter's Latin America & Caribbean (LAC) catastrophe modelling team, positioned and working primarily with the team in London servicing clients across LAC with a primary focus on the Caribbean region.

You will work closely with brokers and other GC Analytics members to gather and assess clients' catastrophe exposure data to best understand and proactively address the potential impact of natural and man-made catastrophes.

In addition you will be responsible for managing catastrophe modelling projects from beginning to end and will have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of clients and contribute to a wide range of innovative catastrophe modelling initiatives.

We will count on you to:

  • Prepares summaries, presentations and reports for client projects in order to summarize potential risks and loss results and to make recommendations to the client about how they can improve their portfolio.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

What makes you stand out:
  • Previous experience in a technical related role at a reinsurance broker, market, or catastrophe model software vendor.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in natural sciences or related disciplines.
  • Prior experience in relevant insurance / reinsurance field.
  • Scientific background in meteorology and/or earthquake.
  • An understanding of the reinsurance industry and product lines.
  • Technical expertise working with Verisk and RMS catastrophe models.
