Job summary

General Reinsurance, London Branch, seeks a Casualty Facultative Underwriter to market and underwrite casualty facultative business, handling new and renewal accounts directly with UK and Irish cedents. You will analyze risk exposures, price, structure and negotiate casualty reinsurance schemes, with strong knowledge of the UK London Market and a proactive, client-focused approach.

ACII qualifications are favourable; a university degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• A proven track record of successful underwriting in Third Party Liability lines of business.
• Strong technical underwriting background with a customer-focused mindset.
• Proficiency in understanding contracts, policy forms and terms.
• Experience with technical rates and ability to provide an external view.
• Successful track record in building/growing a sustainable portfolio.
• Strong numerical, research and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Marketing and underwriting casualty facultative business; soliciting new opportunities and handling renewals, transacting the product on a direct basis.
• Underwrite UK, International and US casualty reinsurance risks for UK and Irish cedents.
• Demonstrate solid underwriting skills in General Liability and related classes; knowledge of US Casualty is an advantage.
• Analyze risk exposures, assess insurability and profitability of submissions; price, structure and negotiate schemes.
• Understand and apply underwriting philosophy, appetite and guidelines; manage client relationships.

Gen Re, London P&C currently has an excellentopportunity for a Casualty Facultative Underwriter basedin our office in the City of London.

Main Purpose of the Role

• - You will beresponsible for the marketing and underwriting of casualty facultativebusiness; soliciting new business opportunities and handling renewal accounts,transacting the Gen Re casualty fac product on a direct (non-broker) basis.
• - The role is tounderwrite UK, International and US casualty reinsurance risks of UK andIrish cedents.
• -You will have a strong knowledge of the UK and London Market.
• -As a direct underwriter you will enjoy being out in the market, engagingpotential clients on our product and developing a strong pipeline of profitableopportunities and contacts.
• -Your performance will be evaluated based on what was accomplished and how itwas achieved such as premium written, number of quotations issued, priceadequacy, client management and teamwork.
• -You will be required to demonstrate solid technical underwriting skills inGeneral Liability and related classes of business. Experience in UK Motoror Financial Lines will be an advantage as would knowledge of USCasualty .
• -You will be responsible for understanding and applying Casualty Facultativeunderwriting philosophy, appetite and guidelines.
• -Analyzing and documenting risk exposures and coverages and assessing thetechnical insurability and profitability of new and renewal submissions.
• -Underwriting, pricing, structuring and negotiating facultative individual riskor bundled reinsurance schemes, programs or delegated authority arrangements.

Qualifications & Experience

• -Aproven track record of successful underwriting in Third Party Liability linesof business.
• -Strong technical underwriting background and customer focus mindset.
• -Proficiency in understanding contracts, policy forms and terms and conditions.
• -Experience with technical rates along with the ability to provide an externalview.
• -Successful track record in building / growing a sustainable portfolio.
• -Strong numerical, research and analytical skills.
• -Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills with thecapacity to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• -Self-starter, with an ability and willingness to take the initiative.
• -Strong organizational and time management skills.
• -High degree of energy / tenacity and a motivation to develop a deeperunderstanding of a broad range of liability products.
• -University Degree and ACII qualifications are favourable but not essential.
• -Strong Microsoft Office skills.
