Job summary

Bexhill College is seeking a reliable, proactive Senior Caretaker to join our campus team. You will oversee day-to-day site operations, open and close the college, and supervise caretaking staff to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for students and staff.

The role requires practical maintenance skills, flexibility, and willingness to work both indoors and outdoors. Enhanced DBS is required; training to drive the college minibus would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Opening and closing the College, securing premises as required.
• Supervising caretaking staff and allocating daily tasks.
• Undertaking routine inspections and minor repairs.
• Monitoring building condition and reporting maintenance needs.
• Supporting contractors on site and ensuring adherence to site procedures.
• Supporting high standards of health and safety across the campus.
• Assisting with college events, including parents evenings and open evenings, possibly out-of-hours.

We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and experienced Senior Caretaker to play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong practical maintenance skills and experience of site management to take a leading role in the day-to-day operation of our campus.

Responsibilities

• opening and closing the College, securing the college premises as required
• supervising caretaking staff and allocating daily tasks
• undertaking routine inspections and minor repairs
• monitoring building condition and reporting maintenance requirements
• supporting contractors working on site and ensuring compliance with site procedures
• supporting the maintainance of high standards of health and safety across the campus
• supporting college events which includes parents evenings and open evenings and may require responding to out-of-hours issues where required

Eligibility

The College is a ‘regulated activity’ and as such, successful candidates will be required to possess an enhanced DBS certificate to be employed at the College. DBS application is facilitated by the College.
