Job summary

Belfast Health and Social Care Trust invites applications for a Senior Care and Support Worker, Band 5, based at Aaron House, Dundonald. The role delivers learning disability services within Residential & Supported Living, requiring empathy, patience and a person-centred approach.

The post offers permanent, full- or part-time hours in a 24/7 service with induction, ongoing training and the possibility of flexible working.

Qualifications

• NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 2 in Care or equivalent qualification in care.
• Must hold current registration with NI Social Care Council or be eligible to apply.
• Minimum 3 years’ care and support experience in residential, supported living or similar.
• Willingness to work full range of shifts on a 24/7 basis.
• Induction and ongoing training including RQF Level 3 in Care if needed.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech.
• Understanding of issues involved in supporting a person with a learning disability.
• Equality and safeguarding commitments in line with NHS/HSC policies.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key worker and coordinate person-centred plans.
• Deliver personal care, including medicines administration.
• Provide direct care covering social, emotional, health, education and daily living needs.
• Support service users with complex needs within residential and supported living settings.
• Engage with service users to enhance quality of life and activities.
• Maintain accurate records, participate in meetings and follow trust policies.
• Liaise with families, carers and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Supervise colleagues and assist with shift handovers and training.
