Job description

We are seeking a Senior Care Assistant (day and night shifts available) to support the Home Manager, Deputy and Assistant Manager in the home's management, and to be accountable for the residents, creating a calm and secure atmosphere throughout the night.

Rate of Pay:
£12.26 to £12.85 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Manager, Deputy Manager and Assistant Manager in the running of the home in an efficient and caring manner in their absence.
  2. Ensure a walking handover is carried out and that all residents are accounted for at the start and the end of the shift.
  3. Ensure that all staff contribute to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the home and the creation of the right atmosphere and lead by example.
  4. Support with the training and development of all staff and ensure the in-house training programme is both implemented and monitored to a high standard.
  5. Support residents with all aspects of personal care whilst maintaining and promoting independence.
  6. Support residents to use the environment in accordance with their care plan and to have an understanding of the Mobile Care Monitoring System (MCM).
  7. Promote all aspects of personal care with dignity and respect.
  8. Perform either care duties or assist with cleaning duties throughout the duration of the entire night shift as the night shift is a waking duty.
  9. Ensure the home is safe and secure.
  10. Carry out regular checks throughout the night for each resident's individual needs (in relation to the home's guidelines and policies).

Essential Skills, Characteristics and Experience:
  1. Minimum of NVQ 2 working towards NVQ Level 3 or above.
  2. Ability to lead, motivate and mentor staff and to be a team player.
  3. Communicate and interact effectively with both residents and staff.
