Job description

RN - MedSurg / Swing Bed

Sign On Bonus: $5,000
Wage Range: $32.91 - $39.00/hr

BLS required, NIHSS and ACLS preferred. The unit has 16 beds with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 during both day and night shifts, with a rare ratio of 1:8 at night depending on acuity and staffing. Nurses may also take Swing Bed Patients.

Required Certifications: BLS required; ACLS & NIH Stroke Education preferred.

Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients: Pneumonia, Rehab, UTI, general post-op, pain control, general medical, aspiration, fractures, dementia, falls, etc. Rare pediatric cases typically needing IV fluids.

Experience: IV experience is required; knowledge of the EPIC system is preferred. It is rare, but we prefer RNs to have the ability to assist in the ER as backup if EMS is out on a call.

Duties Include: Vitals, ambulation, activities of daily living (ADLs), rounding, etc.

Weekend Requirement: Staff are required to work every third weekend, depending on the contract. Every other weekend is typical for contracted staff. Weekends are considered Friday/Saturday/Sunday for nights and Saturday/Sunday for days. Open to requests for more weekends, but dependent on the needs of the unit.

Holiday Requirement: In rotation.

Call or Standby Requirement: No.
