Job summary

The Kensington Care Home in London is seeking a dedicated Senior Care Assistant to lead a team and deliver person-centred care. This role involves close collaboration with nurses to support clinical duties and ensure high-quality care for residents.

You will manage shifts, mentor care staff, and maintain compassionate, dignified support for residents and their families. Training and development are provided to help you excel.

Qualifications

  • NVQ3 in care or working towards it.
  • Motivated with great interpersonal skills, able to work in a close-knit team.
  • Experience in a care assistant role with an understanding of its rewards and challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day responsibility for running a unit.
  • Support with clinical duties, including assisting the nurse to observe, issue medication, review care plans and accurate record keeping.
  • Lead and manage a team of Care Assistants, including handovers.
  • Assist with training and supervision of new staff.
  • Build relationships with residents, their families and external teams such as GPs and District Nurses.
  • Assist residents with a range of personal care duties.

You'll Help Us Make Health Happen By
  • Day-to-day responsibility for running a unit

  • Driving and managing a team of Care Assistants, including responsible for all shift handovers of the teams
  • Helping with training and supervision of new staff members so they feel welcomed and supported
  • Building relationships with residents, their families and external teams such as GPs and District Nurses
  • Assisting residents with a range of personal care duties
Key Skills / Qualifications Needed For This Role
  • You'll have completed / working towards an NVQ3 in care. We'll be more than happy to support you in the completion of your qualification if needed.
  • You're motivated, positive and with great interpersonal skills, and you enjoy working in a close-knit team. You’re pivotal in running a unit, working with the Nurse to aid with clinical duties for the home.
  • You have previous experience of the role and knowledge of its rewards and challenges. Just as importantly, you also have a passion for making a real difference to people’s lives, giving them the kindness, personalized support and dignity they need.
