Job description

Looking for a new position in the Cardiology field? At Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, we're driven by a clear mission: to deliver world-class healthcare through cutting-edge research, education, and training. Now, we're inviting a Cardiographer to join our friendly, expert team in the renowned Cardiac Rhythm Management and electrophysiology department.

Work at the forefront of cardiac diagnostics, where you'll handle a full spectrum of investigations, including ECGs and Holters. With our large cardiac rhythm management program, you'll have the chance to contribute to the care of our patients.

We are a team comprised of motivated and skillful Consultant cardiologists, Cardiac Physiologists, Associate practitioners, Cardiographers and Cardiac nurse specialists. We are looking for a caring and hard-working Band 3 Physiologist assistant or Health Care Assistant who would like to specialise in the Cardiology field.

The ideal candidate will be expected to handle 24hr ECG's, holter monitor fittings, blood pressure monitors.

While the postholder will predominantly be based at one site, cross site cover will be expected to meet service demand and for training purposes.

Main duties of the job
  • To undertake a range of routine non-invasive electrocardiographic techniques and procedures carried out within the Cardiac Investigations Service.
  • To perform the standard recordings, measurements and first line interpretation of the cardiological tests and procedures carried out.
  • Knowing the location of resuscitation equipment and being familiar with its operation, proper use and maintenance. Ensuring that this equipment is readily available prior to commencement of each investigation or therapeutic procedure. Knowing how and when to summon the hospital resuscitation team and to co-operate with them appropriately on arrival.
  • To assist the more senior Cardiac Physiology staff in organising and carrying out the daily work allocation of the Cardiac Investigations service, to ensure that the Trust's caseload commitment to its healthcare commissioners is fulfilled throughout the normal working week.
  • To assist in maintaining an ordered filing and retrieval system and/or electronic computer database of Patients' physiological recordings, measurements, reports and attendance details; also helping provide basic statistical returns of activity, etc.
  • To help with the maintenance of consumable stocks and replenishment of same as necessary, working within the department's budgetary and logistic constraints

Person Specification
Education
  • Good standard of general secondary education, literacy and numeracy
  • Basic &/or Immediate Life Support trained and Certificated by Resuscitation Council, UK
  • To have successfully undertaken specialist short courses in relevant clinical-technical disciplines
Experience
  • Experience of dealing with the general public in a calm, competent and professional manner, and show discretion
  • Technically competent at ECG recording & interpretation, preparing Patients for exercise ECG stress testing, ambulatory monitoring hook-up, removal and Cardiac Event Recorder analysis
Skills
  • Ability to interact sensitively with a broad range of Patients and the general public
  • Proven administrative abilities and computer literacy as required for routine use of clinical and Patient database systems
  • Knowledge of Trust's Patient information system
