Merrifield Consultants are delighted to partner with a world-renowned art gallery to recruit a Senior Capital Projects Manager. This is a unique opportunity to lead the delivery of high-profile capital projects within a prestigious cultural institution at the heart of London’s arts and heritage scene.

This is a critical role for an experienced capital projects professional who thrives on leading complex developments, managing stakeholder expectations, and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, compliance, and innovation.

Location: Central London

Salary: £65,599 per annum (depending on experience)

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Start Date: As soon as possible

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead the strategic planning and delivery of large-scale capital projects across the gallery estate.
2. Contribute to the planning of the estate's refurbishment, including budget forecasting for the 5-year planning process.
3. Achieve sign-off by engaging key stakeholders at RIBA stages throughout the project lifecycle.
4. Collaborate with internal departments, contractors, consultants, and funders to meet organisational and regulatory standards.
5. Oversee procurement processes, project governance, and budget management.
6. Manage on-site construction activities to ensure health, safety, and quality compliance.
7. Deliver projects that reflect the gallery’s mission, values, and architectural heritage.

Person Specification

1. Strong knowledge of UK construction law, planning regulations, and procurement frameworks.
2. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with confident communication across all levels.
3. A strategic thinker with a proactive problem-solving approach.
4. Degree in construction, engineering, project management, or related field; professional memberships (e.g., RICS, CIOB, APM) are desirable.
5. Experience in arts, heritage, or not-for-profit sectors is advantageous but not essential.
