Job summary

NELFT North East London Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant CAMHS Psychiatrist for a SET Mid Essex CAMHS post (Chelmsford & Halstead). The role is 6 PAs with potential for part-time, flexible working and remote sessions. The closing date is 04 November 2026.

The post is substantive, with a split site across Chelmsford and Halstead, and a history of transforming Essex's Community CAMHS Services. It requires GMC registration and eligibility for Specialist Register in Psychiatry.

Qualifications

• Inclusion in, or eligibility for inclusion in the Specialist Register for Psychiatry or within 6 months of obtaining CCT
• Approved Clinician status, or eligibility for it.

Responsibilities

• Organise and prioritise own and others workload in day-to-day allocation of work
• Deputise in the team manager’s absence and delegate to medical staff
• Adhere to Trust protocols and procedures and maintain accurate records for audit
• Ensure effective risk management and maintain the Trust risk register
• Provide autonomous professional accountability with GMC licence to practice
• Assess and develop care plans for complex patient needs, including chronic, acute, and palliative care
• Initiate referrals to other health professionals and agencies
• Educate patients and relatives to promote dignity, independence, and quality of life
• Ensure practice is supported by evidence-based practice and peer review
• Provide clinical supervision to junior colleagues and support their learning needs
• Support new staff integration and ongoing professional development
• Plan mandatory training and participate in annual appraisal and personal development plans
• Support training and implementation of new policies and guidelines
