Job summary

The Tameside CAMHS Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist post offers a full-time appointment (10 PA) within a growing CAMHS service based at Springleigh clinic in Stalybridge. You will join an established MDT and contribute to expert assessments, leadership, and service development across Generic CAMHS and Neurodevelopmental pathways.

Suitable for both newly qualified and experienced consultants, the role provides opportunities for teaching, research, and cross-site collaboration, with

Qualifications

• Primary medical qualification with GMC licence to practise.
• MRCPsych or equivalent; higher degree or published research.
• GMC registration and licence to practise; Specialist Register eligibility or imminent CCT/equivalent path.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist psychiatric assessments and ongoing management for children and young people.
• Lead across Generic CAMHS and Neurodevelopmental pathways including intellectual disability.
• Contribute to specialised complex care pathways (e.g. cared for children, eating disorders, crisis/home treatment).
• Hold clinical responsibility for a defined caseload and provide MDT consultation.
• Offer clinical leadership within the team, supporting triage, care planning and risk management.
• Collaborate with Social Care, Paediatrics, Education and Third Sector organisations.
• Participate in Consultant rota, peer supervision, and cross-cover for colleagues.
• Contribute to teaching, training, service development, audit and quality improvement.
