Job summary

MWH Treatment is seeking a Senior CAD Technician (Electrical) to lead the electrical CAD outputs and BIM delivery across UK projects. You will coordinate, manage, and ensure quality across multiple disciplines, supporting offshore design resources and maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.

The role involves mentoring junior CAD staff, driving digital delivery best practices, and ensuring buildability and coordination across Electrical, ICA, Mechanical, Civil and Process teams on

Qualifications

• Significant experience in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
• Strong Electrical CAD background in infrastructure, utilities, or water sectors.
• Advanced 2D drafting with industry-standard software.
• Strong 3D modelling experience and model-based design understanding.
• Proven experience using Revit and other 3D design applications.
• Knowledge of BIM processes and QA procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead production, coordination and QA of electrical design drawings and models.
• Prioritise CAD workloads to meet project programmes and milestones.
• Act as Digital Delivery Champion for CAD, BIM and digital engineering.
• Coordinate drawing production by offshore/remote design teams.
• Ensure designs comply with CDM Regulations and project standards.
• Coordinate information across Electrical, ICA, Mechanical, Civil and Process disciplines.
• Resolve technical queries and design clashes, supervise junior staff.
• Produce and review electrical design models, layouts, schematics and drawings.
• Maintain drawing standards and document control requirements.
• Work with construction and supply chain to improve buildability.
• Support BIM implementation and digital project delivery; promote health and safety.
• Mentor junior CAD technicians.

Help Deliver the UK's Critical Water Infrastructure

MWH Treatment is looking to strengthen our Engineering team with the appointment of a Senior CAD Technician (Electrical) based out of a suitable location within the UK,region, with flexible working available.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical CAD professional to play a key role in the delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK. Working within a multidisciplinary design environment, you will be responsible for coordinating, managing and ensuring the quality of electrical design outputs, while supporting the continued development of digital engineering and BIM delivery across the business.

As a senior member of the engineering team, you'll work closely with Electrical, ICA, Mechanical, Civil and Process Engineers, ensuring that designs are coordinated, accurate, buildable and delivered to the highest standards of quality and safety.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Regional Discipline Lead, you will lead the coordination and delivery of electrical CAD and BIM outputs across a portfolio of projects.

You will be instrumental in driving digital delivery excellence, managing drawing production, supporting offshore design resources and helping to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and in accordance with company, industry and client standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the production, coordination and quality assurance of electrical design drawings and models.
• Manage and prioritise CAD workloads to ensure project programmes and delivery milestones are achieved.
• Act as a Digital Delivery Champion, promoting best practices in CAD, BIM and digital engineering.
• Coordinate drawing production undertaken by offshore and remote design teams.
• Ensure all designs comply with CDM Regulations, project standards and company procedures.
• Coordinate design information across Electrical, ICA, Mechanical, Civil and Process disciplines.
• Support the identification and resolution of technical queries, design clashes and coordination issues.
• Produce and review electrical design models, layouts, schematics and detailed design drawings.
• Maintain drawing standards, quality assurance processes and document control requirements.
• Work closely with construction teams and supply chain partners to improve buildability and project efficiency.
• Support BIM implementation and digital project delivery across engineering teams.Encourage a positive health and safety culture throughout the design process.
• Mentor and support junior CAD technicians and designers where required.

You’ll be a highly capable Electrical CAD Technician with strong technical skills, a collaborative approach and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering solutions.EssentialSignificant experience working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.Strong Electrical CAD background within infrastructure, utilities, industrial or water sectors.Advanced 2D drafting skills with extensive experience using industry-standard software.Strong 3D modelling experience and understanding of model-based design principles.Proven experience using Autodesk Revit and other associated 3D design applications.Experience with Bentley ProjectWise or equivalent document management systems.Understanding of electrical engineering drawings, including layouts, cable routes, schematics, MCCs, power distribution and control systems.Broad experience using engineering software and digital delivery tools.Good understanding of BIM processes, 3D modelling standards and QA procedures.Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality outputs.Excellent communication and coordination skills.Self-motivated with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.DesirableExperience working within the UK water and wastewater industry.Knowledge of EICA (Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation) systems.Familiarity with BIM Level 2 standards and digital delivery methodologies.Experience coordinating offshore or remote design teams.Previous mentoring or supervisory responsibilities.Understanding of construction practices, installation requirements and buildability considerations.Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or utility projects.
