Job summary

AECOM in Glasgow is seeking a Senior CAD Technician to help deliver high-quality drawings and BIM models for water infrastructure projects. You will work from our Glasgow office with a flexible hybrid working model and contribute to design development from concept through detailed delivery.

You will coordinate across project teams, uphold CAD standards, mentor junior technicians, and champion BIM across projects, using Civil 3D, Revit and Navisworks to support accurate, clash-free models.

Qualifications

  • HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience delivering project information in line with BIM standards.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D or Revit; able to validate and coordinate models in Navisworks.
  • Experience with Common Data Environment such as ProjectWise or Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Responsibilities

  • Develop design outputs from initial concepts through to fully detailed deliverables.
  • Encourage the use of digital tools to review, influence, and enhance design quality.
  • Promote, articulate, and lead BIM behaviours on projects.
  • Support coordination of deliverables for multiple projects, ensuring on-time completion within budget.
  • Proactively maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and report progress on technical issues.

We are looking for a passionate individual with Civil 3D/Revit experience to contribute to the delivery of high-quality technical drawings and models across a range of infrastructure projects. You will be based in our fantastic Glasgow office, whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model.

Job Description
Here’s what you’ll do:
  • Digital Delivery:Responsible for developing design outputs frominitialconcepts through to fullydetailed designdeliverables
  • Utilise Digital Tools: Encourage the use of digital tools to review, influence, and enhance design quality processes
  • Champion BIM: Promote, articulate, and lead BIM behaviours on the projects
  • CoordinateprojectDeliverables:Support coordinationof deliverablesfor multiple projects, ensuring completion within budget. Provide support andmanagementofprojectresourcestofacilitateproduction ofdeliverables
  • Team Relationship: Beproactivein relationships with internal project stakeholders, reporting progress of highlighting any technical issues fortimelyresolution
  • Maintain Standards: Support theCAD LeadinmaintainingCAD standards, best practices, and processes formodelling, content creation, and advanced digital developments
  • Design Team Meetings:Activelyparticipateand input to design team meetings, bringing with you a digital by default mindset, championing the use of 3D model reviews and markups
  • Mentor Junior Technicians: Work across theScotlandoffices supporting junior Revit Technicians, from a technical perspective

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Certified minimum of HND or Equivalent in an engineering disciplineCivil/Structural Engineering
  • Project Information Delivery: Experience in delivering project informationin accordance withBIM standards
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in using Civil 3d or Revit, with experience invalidatingand coordinating models in Navisworks or similar software.(minimum5years of experience)
  • Common Data Environment Experience: Experience working in a Common Data Environment such as ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar
