Job summary

Viridor seeks a Lead Control & Instrumentation Technician in Glasgow to lead day-to-day maintenance across site control and instrumentation assets. You will provide technical leadership to C&I Technicians and Apprentices, ensuring safe, efficient work within environmental and H&S standards.

The role combines hands-on technical work with contractor management, outage planning, and team development to maximise plant reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Recognised apprenticeship with City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent technical qualification.
• Experience in process industry, energy-from-waste, or similar industrial environment.
• Experience with PLC, DCS and SCADA systems.
• Experience leading maintenance teams and driving performance improvements.
• Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance on plant control and instrumentation systems.
• Supervise, mentor and support C&I Technicians and Apprentices.
• Diagnose faults and lead root cause investigations for timely resolutions.
• Manage contractors ensuring safety and site procedure compliance.
• Conduct safety and technical inspections and document CMMS records.
• Support outage planning to maximise plant availability and reliability.
