Job summary

Scantec Recruitment is seeking a Principal Control & Instrumentation Engineer to deliver key C&I design on a nuclear FEED project. You will lead technical delivery, mentor engineers, and manage budgets and schedules.

The role combines hands-on design production (SIS, P&IDs) with strategic leadership, interfacing with clients and delivery teams. Hybrid working and long-term engagement offer technical authority and career development.

Qualifications

Degree in engineering or equivalent professional experience.
CEng or IEng status with a relevant body.
Valid safety passport or equivalent qualification.
12+ years' C&I engineering across full project lifecycle.
Experience with SIS design per IEC 61511/61508.
Line management and mentoring experience.
Strong knowledge of safety-critical systems and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute C&I design across the full lifecycle from tendering to close-out.
Specify and design Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
Conduct SIL assessments and develop safety cases.
Produce control system designs, P&IDs and technical documentation.
Manage budgets, resources and discipline workload.
Mentor junior engineers and drive career development.
Interface with clients, delivery teams and project management.
Ensure regulatory compliance and quality standards.
