Job summary

Certain Advantage is seeking a Senior C++ Software Engineer in London on an initial 6‑month contract with on-site work three days a week. You will develop low-latency exchange connectivity and high‑performance trading algorithms, while optimizing systems and supporting deployments across the global trading platform.

The role requires C++ in financial services, familiarity with trading life cycles, and strong multithreading/async skills.

Qualifications

• C++ experience in financial services or trading environments.
• Experience in Trading & Capital Markets or Investment Banking is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of exchange-traded derivatives and full trading lifecycle.
• Knowledge of major global futures exchanges and their native protocols.
• Excellent multithreading, asynchronous and distributed software development.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL or similar scripting languages.

Responsibilities

• Optimize application performance with kernel bypass, TLS optimization, and connection tuning.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Developing low-latency exchange connectivity using native exchange APIs and protocols including FIX, WebSockets and HTTP.
• Building and enhancing high-performance trading algorithms alongside traders and quantitative analysts.
• Optimising application performance through techniques such as kernel bypass, TLS optimisation and connection tuning.
• Investigating production issues, improving system reliability and resolving performance bottlenecks.
• Maintaining and extending automated testing frameworks to ensure software quality.
• Supporting releases, deployments and continuous improvements across the global trading platform.

The Individual

• C++ software development experience within financial services.
• Experience working in Trading & Capital Markets or Investment Banking
• Strong understanding of exchange-traded derivatives and the full trading lifecycle.
• Knowledge of major global futures exchanges and their native protocols.
• Excellent understanding of multithreaded, asynchronous and distributed software development.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures and performance optimisation.
• Experience with Python, C#, SQL or other scripting/programming languages.
• A track record of delivering reliable, production-grade applications and deployment best practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• The ability to thrive in a fast‑paced trading environment with changing priorities.
