Job summary

Senior C++ Engineer – Trading role based in London with Certain Advantage. This is a 6-month on-site contract requiring presence 3 days a week.

You'll develop low-latency connectivity, build trading algorithms with traders and quants, optimize performance, and maintain testing frameworks across a global platform.

Applicants should have strong C++ in financial services, experience with FIX/WebSockets/HTTP, and a deep understanding of derivatives trading lifecycle in a fast-paced environment.

Senior C++ Engineer – Trading

Certain Advantage is hiring for a Senior C++ Software Engineer based in London.

This role is on an initial 6-month contract basis and is required to be onsite 3 days a week.

Backed by significant investment and operating at a global scale, the business develops cutting-edge trading platforms that support high-performance derivatives trading across international markets.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Developing low-latency exchange connectivity using native exchange APIs and protocols including FIX, WebSockets and HTTP.
• Building and enhancing high-performance trading algorithms alongside traders and quantitative analysts.
• Optimising application performance through techniques such as kernel bypass, TLS optimisation and connection tuning.
• Investigating production issues, improving system reliability and resolving performance bottlenecks.
• Maintaining and extending automated testing frameworks to ensure software quality.
• Supporting releases, deployments and continuous improvements across the global trading platform.

The Individual

• C++ software development experience within financial services.
• Experience working in Trading & Capital Markets or Investment Banking
• Strong understanding of exchange-traded derivatives and the full trading lifecycle.
• Knowledge of major global futures exchanges and their native protocols.
• Excellent understanding of multithreaded, asynchronous and distributed software development.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures and performance optimisation.
• Experience with Python, C#, SQL or other scripting/programming languages.
• A track record of delivering reliable, production-grade applications and deployment best practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment with changing priorities.
