Job summary

JD Group is recruiting a Buying Manager to support the Head of Buying and deliver a profitable, customer-relevant product range across core, seasonal and trend-led categories. You will manage supplier relationships and lead day-to-day decisions on range, margin, stock and cost to achieve KPIs, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely launches.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Sports Fashion Buying at a management level.
• Extensive network within the industry and well connected with strong brand relationships.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing a buying team ( Buyers, Senior Buyers ).
• Ability to delegate effectively, set priorities and manage team capacity in a fast-paced environment.
• Confident in representing the buying function in cross-functional and senior stakeholder meetings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category range architecture across core, seasonal, and innovation, including clear entry and exit strategies.
• Lead the build and delivery of compelling product ranges across core, seasonal and trend-led categories.
• Present ranges to Directors and senior stakeholders, acting as a liaison between Heads of and cross-functional teams.
• Lead, manage and develop a buying team with clear direction and progression.
• Maintain understanding of customer, competitor landscape and market trends; leverage networks to identify opportunities.
• Use market knowledge to shape category direction and influence brand strategy.
• Own product selection decisions and range sign-off within delegated authority.
• Drive pricing strategy and markdown proposals.
• Partner with trading and allocation teams to optimise availability and minimise lost sales.
• Identify and drive operational improvements within buying, driving efficiency and accuracy.
• Build relationships with brand partners to unlock opportunities and competitive advantage.
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, Ecommerce, and Supply Chain to execute launches.
