Job Description:

Senior Buyer - Capex & Lifecycle

Office location: Milton Keynes (with regular weekly travel across the UK)

Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week (hybrid working available)

In this role, you are responsible for maximizing value through Procurement by strategically managing the UK supplier spend and identifying opportunities that drive sustainable improvements in cost, quality, service, and innovation.

The role supports 5 PFI contracts across the UK, primarily focusing on Capex & Lifecycle categories, with potential support on other categories such as MRO, Business Services, Fleet, Energy, and Facilities.

You should have procurement and strategic sourcing experience, including knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures. A background in Engineering procurement, NEC contract negotiation, and project management is preferred.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a proven track record in Engineering and Strategic Procurement, capable of building strong supplier relationships and working in a fast-paced, technical environment.

Your key responsibilities:

• Drive supplier accountability for continuous improvement and productivity initiatives
• Negotiate contracts directly with suppliers
• Create category strategies for 1, 3, and 5 years based on spend analysis
• Support procurement processes and cross-functional training
• Identify and schedule procurement activities with Engineering and Operations
• Collaborate with Legal on contract forms
• Manage procurement tendering and negotiations
• Maintain procurement programs and provide updates
• Mitigate risks in procurement processes
