Job summary

W Talent is partnering with a well-established food business in the West Midlands to recruit a Senior Buyer – Food. You will own category strategy, drive supplier negotiations and shape range planning while collaborating with cross-functional teams across buying, marketing, quality, and supply chain.

Ideal candidates will have proven food buying experience, strong negotiation skills and a data-driven mindset to influence pricing and promotions.

Qualifications

• Proven buying experience within food sectors (retail, wholesale or foodservice).
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills with a track record of managing supplier relationships.
• Confident using data and market insights to drive decisions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

We're partnering with a well-established food business to find an experienced Senior Buyer to join their commercial team, based in the West Midlands.

This is a great opportunity for a senior buyer with a strong food category background to take ownership of a key area of spend, with real scope to influence supplier and range strategy.

The role:

• Own category strategy, range planning and supplier negotiation across your food category area
• Build and develop strong supplier relationships, driving commercial terms, cost improvements and NPD
• Use sales, market and competitor data to inform range, pricing and promotional decisions
• Work closely with buying, marketing, quality and supply chain teams to deliver category plans
• Take ownership of P&L performance for your category

What we're looking for:

• Proven buying experience within food (retail, wholesale or foodservice backgrounds all considered)
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with a track record of managing supplier relationships
• Confident using data and insight to drive decisions
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
